Punta del Diablo Uruguay by Ricardo Braescher Punta del Diablo in Uruguay is a famous tourist destination on the Atlantic ocean, a small fishing village with a primeval appearance, contrasting with the far more upbeat Punta del Este. Brazilian photographer Ricardo Braescher snapped some shots of this delightful place, accompanying architect Mauro Defferrari.

A peaceful village almost 300 km from the Uruguay capital of Montevideo, populated by fishermen and artisans, Punta del Diablo is a very popular destination for tourists from Brazil (the border is only a few kilometres away), Argentina and Europe.

For now Punta de Diablo - also well-known to surfers - has kept its simple, raw charm, as we can see in the shots that our Brazilian friend and photographer, Ricardo Braescher has shared with us.

His journey alongside architect Mauro Defferrari takes us on a discovery tour of a place where architecture complements the landscape without emphasising human intervention.

Braescher's photos of the buildings in Punta del Diablo also include the creations designed by Brazilian architect Mauro Defferrari like the “La Amistad” complex. Works whose narrative communicates with the environment, where rather than the overused term of “fitting in”, here we can say that the buildings are truly included in the landscape.

Not surprisingly, Mauro Defferrari is a member of the Brazil Green Building Council and holds the “LEED AP” professional credential, aspects that you can see in his architecture, where the word “aesthetic” goes hand in hand with the concept of creative freedom whose deep ties are woven with a place full of traditions and intrinsic sustainability that has become rare and that is here treated as a local heritage that needs to be preserved.
